You know, I always hear people complaining about how Final Fantasy has gone all sci-fi and how that trend is the reason Final Fantasy sucks nowadays.

I can't quite fathom where this complaint comes from, seeing as how you'd have to re-e-e-e-eally stretch the meaning of "science-fiction" for Final Fantasy IX, Final Fantasy X, or Final Fantasy XII to qualify. And you can fucking forget Final Fantasy XI and the upcoming XIV, which are the closest things to pure medieval fantasy that Square has ever produced.

So, yeah, that's literally every single game in the main series since FF7 and FF8 acquited of the "sci-fi" accusation. Really, XIII is the first game since the PS1 days to have a definite sci-fi emphasis. I wouldn't call that a "trend," especially when we already know that the game immediately after it is gonna be Lord of the fucking Rings.

I really hate the Final Fantasy fandom. So few of them can really appreciate how different the games are from each other, or how it's always been that way, even since FF2. I also really hate how they take one flaw from one game and act like every single game in recent years shares that same flaw.

Fucking unbelievable.

Well, poo-poo to them. FFXIII's coming out on March 9th, and I'll be in line at Midnight for my copy. And they can all complain their li'l fanboy hearts out as much as they want. I'll be in my bunk, greasin' some Lightning.
